Marinha Dourada hotel situated about two kilometres from the popular Baga Beach. This Hotel looks out onto two large lakes, both of which can be fished.
It has one restaurant and two bars all outdoors. However the breakfast area is undercover.
This is one of the best three star hotels in north Goa and is about 75 minutes from the airport. The beach can be easily reached by taxi from the front of the hotel and the return fare is 160 Rupees, about two pounds, or walking is another option.
They do train the elephants but they are extremly well looked after and are treated as Gods.
On a 2-day, overnight tour it gives you a taste of the 'Real India'.
I stayed in Shanti, a tiny hamlet located within the Bhagwan Mahavir Wildlife Sanctuary, surrounded by natural beauty.
A village tour, yoga, a visit to a Hindu temple and spice plantation.
The highlight was the ride on the back of an Indian elephant. There's also the chance to bathe the elephant in the river. A truly memorable experience.
Sri Mahadev Temple, Tambdi Surla
Wash and brush up!
Sunset from the hotel over the lakes.
